A Silent Voice Film Gets Japanese Subtitled Movie Teaser/Trailer

Kyoto Animation, in a unique move, is supporting hearing impaired audience members with subtitled screenings and trailers for A Silent Voice, a film that stars a deaf main character.

Previously, Kyoto Animation announced that there will be subtitled screenings of the upcoming film A Silent Voice once a day in all theater locations from September 24 to September 30. However, they just began streaming Japanese subtitled versions of the movie's teaser and trailer videos on the movie's website, as well.

The movie, based off of Yoshitoki Ōima's A Silent Voice (Koe no Katachi) bestselling manga, will open in Japan on September 17. Naoko Yamada (Tamako Market, Tamako Love Story, K-ON's two anime seasons and anime film) is directing the film at Kyoto Animation. Reiko Yoshida (Non Non Biyori, K-ON!, Yowamushi Pedal) is writing the script, and Futoshi Nishiya (Free!, Hyōka, Nichijō) is designing the characters for animation. kensuke ushio (Space Dandy, Ping Pong) is composing the music at Pony Canyon. Shochiku will distribute the film. Kyoto Animation also announced some of the the cast and released visuals.
