Fujiwara takes break for medical treatment; 1st episode with Morikawa airs on Friday

TV Asahi announced on Friday that Toshiyuki Morikawa (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children's Sephiroth, Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Future Arc's Kyōsuke Munakata, seen right) will replace Keiji Fujiwara in the role of character Hiroshi Nohara in the Crayon Shin-chan anime while Fujiwara is taking a break from voice acting activities to undergo medical treatment for an unspecified illness. The first episode with Morikawa voicing the character will air on Friday.

Morikawa will also replace Fujiwara in the same role in the Crayon Shin-chan Gaiden net anime series that is streaming on Amazon Prime Video starting with the anime's ninth episode on September 28. TV Asahi did not specify for how long Morikawa will play the character.

Fujiwara voices the role of Kōichi Kizakura in the currently airing Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Future Arc television anime series.

Fujiwara has also played roles in Attack on Titan (Hannes), Baccano! (Ladd Russo), Blue Exorcist (Shirō Fujimoto), Hunter × Hunter (Leorio), Galaxy Angel (Volcott O'Huey), Ushio & Tora (Shigure Aotsuki), Gintama (Hattori Zenzou), Magi: The Kingdom of Magic (Hinahoho), Fullmetal Alchemist (Maes Hughes), and Durarara!!×2 Shō (Kinnosuke Kuzuhara), among many others. He also voices the role of Axel in the Kingdom Hearts franchise.

Fujiwara is slated to reprise his role of Shirō Fujimoto in Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Impure King Arc (which will premiere in 2017) and the upcoming Attack on Titan sequel television anime series (which will premiere in spring 2017).
