Shake Hands with KING OF PRISM Characters at Tokyo Karaoke Parlor

posted on by Eric Stimson
KING OF PRISM-themed karaoke sessions also available

Advances in virtual reality (VR) technology have made it possible to shake the hands of anime characters. The karaoke parlor Karaoke no Tetsujin on Sunshine-dōri, Ikebukuro, which opened on December 9, will give visitors the opportunity to meet and shake hands with Kōji, Hiro, Kazuki and Shin from the anime KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm. Visitors can also take photos with them thanks to chroma key compositing.

To get the chance to meet these guys, though, fans must win a raffle which can only be entered by spending at least 3,000 yen ($26) at Karaoke no Tetsujin's four branches. For fans who would rather just sing karaoke, Karaoke no Tetsujin has KING OF PRISM-related promotions as well. Singers who score well on KING OF PRISM songs can win prizes (including a raffle ticket -- but only if you do REALLY well). The parlor is also selling drinks inspired by KING OF PRISM characters that come with coasters featuring these characters.

The application period for the handshake session lasts until December 25; the handshake session lasts from January 5 to 9. The KING OF PRISM promotion also ends on January 9.

Karaoke no Tetsujin plans other events to bring guests closer to their favorite anime like Yuri!!! on Ice, Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru and Haikyu!! Through a collaboration with Warner Brothers, the parlor also gives visitors the chance to watch Warner's latest movies on a 100-inch B-Sonic screen, which offers an unparalleled sense of immersion.

Idols and other celebrities often hold handshake sessions in Japan; however, they sometimes expose the celebrities to violent fans.
