Pikachu & Alola Vulpix Merchandise to Spread Around Japan's Pokemon Centers

posted on by Eric Stimson
Celebrates renewal of Sapporo Pokémon Center

The snowy city of Sapporo celebrates its winter weather each year with a snow festival, and its local Pokémon Center is following suit this year with a wintry redesign. As part of the occasion, it is selling plushies of Pikachu wearing a poncho that looks like Vulpix's wintry white Alola form. The cuteness can't be contained to one Pokémon Center alone; beginning on February 1, stores around Japan will offer other goodies featuring Pikachu and its new best pal, Alola Vulpix.

Customers at any Pokémon Center will receive one of four different clear cards.

If they make a purchase over 2,000 yen ($17.40), they can get one of five coasters. (Both the clear cards and coasters are passed out at random.)

If you want more of Pikachu wearing a Vulpix poncho, it will appear at Pokemon Centers to meet and greet customers. Here is the schedule:

  • Sapporo: February 1 - March 12 on weekends and holidays
  • Mega Tokyo (Ikebukuro): February 4-5
  • Fukuoka: February 11-12
  • Osaka: February 18-19
  • Hiroshima: February 25-26
  • Nagoya: March 4-5
  • Yokohama: March 11-12

If you're more interested in Alola Vulpix, you're in luck there too: Following a popular campaign in Sapporo, Pokemon Centers across Japan will give out Alola Vulpix to customers' Pokemon Sun and Moon games. The Vulpixes come with useful ice-related items attached: Ice Heal, Ice Stone, Icy Rock, NeverMeltIce, Aspear Berry, Casteliacone or Snowball.

The "Snow Festival with Alola Vulpix" lasts until March 12. Sapporo's Snow Festival, which is famous for its ice sculptures and snowy decorations, lasts from February 1 to 12; a different snow-themed Hatsune Miku is chosen each year as its mascot.
