The official website of anime studio feel.'s (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO!, This Art Club Has a Problem!, Dagashi Kashi) upcoming original television anime series Tsuki ga Kirei (The Moon is Beautiful) revealed a teaser visual for the anime last Friday. The staff also revealed expanded character descriptions on the anime's four main characters.

In the site, the text accompanying the visual reads, "To me, it was like moonlight."

The cast, with the expanded character descriptions, include (from left to right in image above):

  • Rie Murakawa as Chinatsu Nishio, a member of the school track team who excels at sprinting. Alongside Akane and their running long jumper Aoi Takizawa, the three form the track team's well-known third year senior group of friends. She is cheerful and innocent, quick to befriend anyone, and popular with both boys and girls. Sometimes she wants things that other people have, but never with any ill will, and at most only with a playful envy.
  • Shōya Chiba as Kotarō Azumi, the literary club president who loves books and wants to become a writer. Both his father and housewife mother were born and raised in their hometown, and his father and stills works in the town. Since Kotarō was small, he has had a close relationship with the region and neighborhood, having been made to join his neighborhood shrine's hayashi (a type of traditional Japanese band) as a flute and taiko drum player. He is an only child who lives in a house his grandparents built themselves. He is carefree, doesn't really stand out in his class, and has lower than average grades due to not caring that much about studying.
  • Konomi Kohara as Akane Mizuno, a member of the school track team, and a sprinter like Chinatsu. She has loved to run since she was a child, and has been part of the track team since entering middle school. Her father's work sends him away to other parts of the country frequently, and the family moved to an apartment in Kawagoe when she was in fifth grade. She was raised in a happy-go-lucky household: her father has a sense of humor, and her mother is carefree. She has a sister two years older. She has a serious streak, and is unfailing in her studies, and her grades reflect it. While she is boastful at home, he is shy and careful to read other people's feelings at school. She uses the town mascot's "magic words" to calm her nerves.
  • Atsushi Tamaru as Takumi Hira, the president of the track-and-field club. He is a true sportsman who has excellent grades, and he has made it to the prefectural tournament in sprinting since his first year of middle school. He has a keen eye for the people around him, and is considered as someone people can count on. He has had feelings for his fellow track team member Akane since his first year of high school, but has never told anyone, not even Akane (although everyone apart from Akane somehow seems to know about it).

The four voice actors will appear at a stage event for the anime during the AnimeJapan 2017 event in March.

The anime will premiere in April. Seiji Kishi (Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Ars Nova, Persona 4 The Animation, Rampo Kitan: Game of Laplace) is directing the anime, and Yuuko Kakihara (Orange, Persona 4 The Animation, Digimon Adventure tri.) is penning and supervising the anime's scripts. loundraw is drawing the original character designs. FlyingDog is in charge of music production.

The series focuses on characters Akane Mizuno and Kotarō Azumi, two third-year middle school students who become classmates for the first time. The series will depict the characters' growth and connection to the people around them, such as classmates, club-mates, teachers, and parents. The anime will also center on the youthful adolescent romance of the characters, who are hounded by change and uncertainty as the seasons inevitably pass.
