Tomokazu Seki has performed a wide range of roles in anime, like Shinya in Psycho-Pass, Domon in Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Yotarō in Shōwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjū, Lieutenant sakuma. in Joker Game, and Chichiri in Fushigi Yugi. He also teaches aspiring voice actors at a training school. He's now putting his expertise to even better use and publishing a book, Seiyū ni Shisu: Kōkai Shinai Seiyū no Mezashikata ("To Die a Voice Actor: How to Become a Voice Actor You Won't Regret").

As the sub-title indicates, Seiyū ni Shisu distills everything he's learned about being a voice actor and taught his students into one volume. Although aimed at those aspiring to the field, it also sheds light on voice acting for anyone interested in it. The chapters are:

  1. Things to Keep in Mind Before Trying to Become a Voice Actor
  2. Don't Fall Prey to Training Schools!
  3. How to Become a Voice Actor: Putting It Into Practice
  4. Rookie Voice Actor Survival
  5. To Die a Voice Actor

The book will be published on March 18.

Photo books of voice actors are common in Japan, but there is a new trend of voice actors writing more substantial books describing how they broke into the industry, behind-the-scenes anecdotes, and tips for anyone trying to follow their career paths. The anime critic Ryota Fujitsu published Seiyūgatari ("Voice Actor Stories") on February 1; it includes interviews with such high-profile veterans as Kotono Mitsuishi, Noriko Hidaka, Keiji Fujiwara, Kōichi Yamadera and Aya Hisakawa. Mitsuo Iwata (Sani in Toriko, Marchosias in Shakugan no Shana, Kaneda in Akira) also published his memoirs, Seiyūdō: Shinu made Koe de Kuu Gokui ("The Way of the Voice Actor: The Deep Secrets of Eating With Your Voice Until You Die"), on February 8.
