Your Forgotten Goldfish is Back for Vengeance in Shibuya Kingyo Manga

Goldfish aren't an uncommon starter pet for kids. So long as its owner doesn't overfeed it and cleans its tank, "Bubbles" is pretty low maintenance. However, more than their fair share of well-meaning fish have ended up getting a "burial at sea" and flushed down the commode. This might explain why goldfish of every size and shape are turning on humans in Hiroumi Aoi's Shibuya Kingyo manga.
The story follows an average, albeit untidy guy named Tahatsu Tsukiyo. Tahatsu's peaceful everyday life comes to an end when man-eating goldfish overtake Shibuya. The fish are everywhere, filling the famous scramble crossing, hanging near the Hachiko statue, and even floating through the city center all the while eating as many humans as they can. The unprecedented crisis marks the "worst survival competition in history."
The first volume of Aoi's manga was released on Wednesday. Shibuya-based stores are celebrating the release by giving away bonus goods like postcards, illustration cards, and illustration paper.
Junji Ito's Gyo manga has a similar premise. That story follows zombie aquatic life ranging from sharks to tuna that begin terrorizing Japan. The manga was adapted into an original anime video series.
