A3! Mobile Game Theme Tops Oricon Chart

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Downloads now exceeds 2 million

The "ikemen-raising" mobile game A3! burst onto the scene late last month, generating over 800,000 downloads in three days. 300,000 of those downloads took place on its launch day. The game's popularity continued to grow, as download numbers raised to 1.5 million in two weeks and finally topping two million downloads by February 21.

It's not just the game itself that's popular. The game's musical staff includes veterans like Masayoshi Ōishi (Ace of Diamond, Overlord), Yuki Kimura (Naruto Shippūden: Blood Prison), Hige Driver (Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun), former OLDCODEX member R.O.N, Elements Garden's Asuka Oda and Ryōta Suemasu, Takeyuki Tonegawa, Round Table's Katsutoshi Kitagawa, Yuyoyuppe, and TWEEDEES' Reiji Okii.

A3!'s opening single "MANKAI☆Kaika Sengen" topped Oricon's daily CD chart on February 20 and is currently hanging out at #5 on the weekly chart. Oricon estimates its sold 14,957 copies during its first week.

The in-game group "A3ders!" made up of Takuya Eguchi, Chiharu Sawashiro, Kōdai Sakai, and Atsushi Tamaru, performs the song. Masayoshi Ōishi produced the track.

The free-to-play game stars a stable of aspiring actors. The characters are separated into four troupes, each one referencing a particular season. The player controls the troupe's director and is responsible for "raising" each member but of course there's also plenty of romance to go along with it.
