Haikyu!! Gets Anime DVD Bundled With 27th Manga Volume in August

OVA will feature "interviews" with players, look back at spring tournament primaries

This year's 18th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing on Monday that Haruichi Furudate's Haikyu!! manga is getting an anime DVD that Shueisha is bundling with a special edition of the manga's 27th volume when it ships on August 4. The deadline to pre-order the bundled version is on June 3, and the bundle retails for 2,980 yen (about US$27).

The bundle will come with a 23-minute anime titled "Tokushū! Harukō Volley ni Kaketa Seishun" (Special Edition! Youths Wagering the Spring High Volleyball Tournament), and a special bonus sticker. The OVA will look back at the spring tournament primaries, and feature "interviews" with the players.

Susumu Mitsunaka is directing the anime at Production I.G, with assistant director Mariko Ishikawa. Taku Kishimoto is writing the script. Takahiro Kishida is the character designer, Yūko Yahiro and Takahiro Chiba are the chief animation directors, Hiromi Kikuta is the sound director, and Yuuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana are composing the music.

The first season of Production I.G's anime adaptation of Furudate's volleyball manga premiered in April 2014. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired and Sentai Filmworks licensed and released the series on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in June and August 2015. The second season of the anime premiered in October 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for North America.

The anime franchise also received two compilation anime films in July and September 2015, and will get two new compilation films this fall.
