Eromanga Sensei Novels Have 1 Million Copies in Print

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The official Twitter account of Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko light novel imprint revealed on Saturday that Tsukasa Fushimi's Eromanga Sensei light novels have one million copies in print.

The "new sibling romantic comedy" revolves around Masamune Izumi, a light novel author in high school. Masamune's little sister is Sagiri, a shut-in girl who hasn't left her room for an entire year. She even forces her brother to make and bring her meals when she stomps on the floor. Masamune wants his sister to leave her room, because the two of them are each other's only family.

Masamune's novel illustrator, penname "Eromanga Sensei," draws extremely perverted drawings, and is very reliable. Masamune had never met his illustrator, and figured he was just a disgusting, perverted otaku. However, the truth is revealed that his "Eromanga Sensei" is his own younger sister. To add to the chaos that erupts between the siblings, a beautiful, female, best-selling shōjo manga creator becomes their rival.

Fushimi launched the light novel series in 2013 after finishing the Oreimo (Ore no Imōto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai) light novel series. As with Oreimo, Hiro Kanzaki draws the illustrations for Eromanga Sensei.

The novels are inspiring a television anime that premiered on April 8. Aniplex of America is streaming the series on Crunchyroll, Daisuki and Amazon's Anime Strike service.
