'The File of Young Kindaichi Returns' Manga Resumes With New Story Arc on July 5

Manga collaborates with Keio Railway, Toei Subway for anniversary project

This year's 30th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine is announcing on Wednesday that Seimaru Amagi and Fumiya Sato's Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo R (The File of Young Kindaichi Returns) manga will resume as planned on July 5 for a new storyline titled "Kindaichi Fumi Yūkai Satsujin Jiken" (The Fumi Kindaichi Abduction and Murder Case). The new arc is a collaboration with the Keio Railway and Toei Subway to celebrate the manga's 25th anniversary. The magazine teased that real world stations will appear in the story.

The hiatus began in April following the final chapter of the manga's "Seiren-tō Satsujin Jiken" (The Seiren Island Murder Case), which launched in December after an earlier hiatus.

The manga centers around a high school boy named Hajime Kindaichi who usually seems dull — but when there is a case, he demonstrates remarkable deductive skills inherited from his famous detective grandfather.

The manga is a sequel to Yōzaburō Kanari and Fumiya Sato's original Kindaichi Case Files manga. Amagi and Sato launched the manga in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in March 2012. Kodansha published the manga's 12th volume on April 17.

Like the original manga, the sequel manga inspired a television anime. The anime's first season premiered in Japan in April 2014, and the second season premiered in Japan in October 2015, and ended in March 2016. Crunchyroll streamed the first and second seasons as they aired in Japan.
