20 Years Later, Xenogears Gets New Figures Teased

Nearly 20 years after Square Enix (then Squaresoft) debuted its psychological mecha role-playing game Xenogears, the video game is getting all new series of figures. Square Enix announced at San Diego Comic Con that the game's original mechanical designer Junya Ishigaki is supervising the figure line as well as reworking the designs. The announcement tweet included the hashtags "Wander Arts," a recently trademarked term by Square Enix that may refer to a figure line, and "Bring Arts," an already existing figure line.

The shared design images show Weltall, the gear piloted by the game's protagonist Fei Fong Wong.

Ishigaki wrote on his own Twitter account that the project just started and fans should wait for more announcements.

Xenogears is the debut title in Square Enix's Xeno series. It was released for the PSOne console in 1998 and was later followed by the Xenosaga trilogy of games, however Xenosaga is more of a stylistic successor than a straight sequel or prequel. Xenosaga inspired an anime series in 2005.
