New Light Novel's OP Main Character Literally Levels Up by Existing

There's plenty of actual criticism for the flood of isekai light novels, and mainly their protagonists, for being ridiculous over-powered wish-fulfillment. Detractors state that the characters typically have superficial flaws while also having "Chosen One" abilities that make any conflict a snap to overcome. Still, none of those previous protagonists hold a candle to 15-year-old Lana who levels up simply by breathing.
Kami Skill "Kokyū" suru dake de Level Up suru Boku wa, Kamigami no Dungeon e Idomu., roughly translated as Using My God Skill "Breathing" to Level Up, I Will Challenge the Dungeon of the Gods. The story follows Lana, who lives in a country where every person is granted a skill by the queen on their 15th birthday. Lana is given the skill "Breathing" (Kokyū), a skill he has never heard of, but he has always dreamed of diving into a dungeon as an adventurer.
The skill is basically a joke and initially seems to only do what it sounds like: allow Lana to breathe. Initially he plans to give up his dream, but then decides to challenge the dungeon anyway in order to rescue his sister, who is currently asleep under a witch's curse. Lana has one year to reach the bottom level of the dungeon where the cure lies.
Lana is determined to reach the bottom even without the benefit of a skill, but what he doesn't know is that he actually was gifted the strongest skill "Kami Kokyū" (God Breathing).
The story is written by Subaru Nanase also known as Shippo Senoo. The first chapter was posted on July 19 and a total of 17 are currently available to read. Nanase has previously won the "Excellence Award" at the 6th Kodansha Lanove Bunko Rookie Awards for Division Maneuver: Eiyū Tensei (pictured right) and the "Special Award" at the 5th Shueisha Light Novel Newcomer Prize for Dangai Masō Paradigm Shift.
