Inti Creates No Longer Part of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Game's Development

Developer involved in creation of game's "prequel mini-game," has not been involved since E3 2016

Game developer ArtPlay clarified on Monday that developer Inti Creates (Azure Striker Gunvolt, Mighty No. 9) is no longer part of the development of Koji "IGA" Igarashi's Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night game. ArtPlay clarified that Inti Creates was involved in the creation of the game's "prequel mini-game" but has not been involved in development since E3 2016. ArtPlay is still responsible for the main development of the game, and it is hiring developer DICO to work on "assets, design levels, and basically filling in the manpower ArtPlay doesn't have." 505 Games is also collaborating with ArtPlay to release the game.

Igarashi used Kickstarter to help fund the game. The project met its initial goal of US$500,000 within four hours of launching in May 2015, and the campaign ended with more than US$5.5 million. The campaign and its stretch goals funded the release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC. The campaign also funded a Wii U version, but the version was cancelled in favor of a Nintendo Switch version.

Bloodstained -Ritual of the Night- will be an "action-adventure game in the gothic horror style." The game will offer single-player, collaborative, and versus modes. The Kickstarter campaign page describes the game:

You are Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist curse which slowly crystallizes your skin. You must battle your way through a demon-filled castle summoned by Gebel, your old friend whose body has become more crystal than flesh.

Igarashi (Castlevania, Tokimeki Memorial) is helming the game, and Michiru Yamane (Skullgirls) and Ippō Yamada (Mega Man) are sound producers and composers. David Hayter (Metal Gear Solid's Snake) is a cast member.

Igarashi left Konami to form his own development studio in 2014.
