Cave Reveals Sangoku Justice Game for Spring 2018

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Game's story centers on 3 powers in Japanese civil war where humans are created endlessly

Game developer Cave (DoDonPachi Resurrection, Akai Katana) revealed its "3jus" game project with the title Sangoku Justice last Friday. The game is slated for spring 2018. Tsuneki Ikeda (Mushihimesama, Deathsmiles) is the game's overall director. Yūri Shibamura (Gunparade March, Touken Ranbu Online) is supervising the game's scenario, and Junya Inoue (Btooom!, Deathsmiles) is the art director.

The game's story begins in the year 2038, when Japan's declining population and low birthrates lead to the government opening the doors to unrestricted use of life sciences to reclaim their lost glory, and more and more citizens become factory-born. Japan's surrounding countries, in strong opposition to this, begin funding anti-government forces, which triggers a civil war in Japan. In the year 2040, with both sides exhausted by seemingly endless war, a new international crime organization rises as a third power in the country between the government forces and the rebels. In this new Japan where human beings can be created so trivially, no one is left to mourn the departed, and the civil war sees no end in sight.

Cave was founded in 1994, and is mostly known for its shooting games. Aksys Games released Cave's Deathsmiles game for the Xbox 360 in 2010, and Rising Star Games released Akai Katana on the Xbox 360 in North America in 2012.

Cave launched an investigation into the alleged malpractice of a former company director in 2015. The company estimated a loss of approximately 29 million yen (US$240,000) due to the malpractice.
