Free! Setting Town's Latest Collaboration Offers Sightseeing Map

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Iwami, Tottori has been an anime pilgrimage site since the first Free! anime, set in a fictionalized version of the seaside town, debuted in 2013. Over the years, Iwami has been host to various cross-promotional campaigns promoting tourism and offering limited-edition anime goods. The town's tourism association revealed the next wave of the official project last week.

The town is partnering with the Free! -Take Your Marks- anime film to offer a sightseeing map. The map highlights locations seen in the anime, and it is available for free to people who visit Iwami.

The collaboration is also holding a stamp rally, and five locations around the town have character stamps. People who collect all the stamps can receive an exclusive postcard. The current stamp rally began on October 28, and it will end on March 31.

Additionally, the Tottori-Okayama Shimbashikan antenna shop in Tokyo will hold an Iwami-themed fair on January 20. People who participate and answer a questionnaire will be able to receive a limited-edtion Free! clear file. The promotion will also be held in Osaka in March.

The Free! -Timeless Medley- Kizuna compilation film opened on April 22, and the second compilation film, Free! -Timeless Medley- Yakusoku, opened on July 1. Free! -Take Your Marks-, a sequel to the compilation films, opened in Japan on October 28.
