Moto Hagio's Queen Margot Manga Goes on Hiatus

Manga to return next August

This year's January issue of Shueisha's Monthly You magazine announced on Friday that Moto Hagio's Ōhi Marugo (Queen Margot) manga will go on hiatus until the magazine's September issue, which will ship in August 2018.

Hagio launched the manga in August 2012. Shueisha published the fifth compiled volume in January.

The title takes place in 16th-century France and tells the story of the historical Margaret of Valois, who dreams of marrying a handsome prince, but her fate is upended by the religious turmoil in Europe.

Hagio's They Were Eleven, A Drunken Dream and Other Stories, A,A', The Heart of Thomas, and Otherworld Barbara manga have English releases. Hagio and Yū Hatano launched the Tenshi Kamoshirenai manga in You last year, and it serializes irregularly.

The Japanese government previously awarded Hagio with the Spring 2012 Medal With Purple Ribbon, which honors academic and artistic achievement. Hagio was the first female manga creator to receive the award. She also won the Asahi Prize earlier this year.
