posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Major book retailer Barnes & Noble released its picks for the best new manga released this year and readers will find the selection falls almost squarely into two categories. The list is primarily populated by manga that inspired anime adaptations that recently aired or will premiere next year and by acclaimed stories depicting the experiences characters falling within the LGBT spectrum.

This includes My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness by Nagata Kabi. The one volume published by Seven Seas has achieved recognition outside of anime and manga fandom, featured in Teen Vogue and Amazon's own best graphic novels list, and was the second best selling comic of its debut week in North America according to the weekly Nielsen BookScan graphic novel sales charts. Seven Seas also licensed its sequel, My Solo Exchange Diary.

Barnes & Noble also chose Golden Kamuy, Tokyo Ghoul:re, your name., Kakegurui - Compulsive Gambler, Land of the Lustrous, Descending Stories: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju, Vampire Knight: Memories, and ERASED, all of which have anime adaptations that aired or are in the works.

The remaining selections include Bloom Into You by Nio Nakatani, Dreamin' Sun by Ichigo Takano, Sweet Blue Flowers by Takako Shimura, Sherlock: The Blind Banker by Steven Moffatt, Steven Thompson, and Mark Gatiss, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess by Akira Himekawa, and The Girl from the Other Side: Siúil, a Rún by Nagabe.
