Anime Boston 2018 Announces its Third Round of Japanese Guests

Senior Managing Director of Sunrise Inc. Hideyuki Tomioka and Screenwriter Katsuyuki Sumizawa to appear at the Northeast's largest anime convention

Boston - Anime Boston, the largest anime convention in New England, announced its third round of Japanese guests of honor today. Senior Managing Director of Sunrise Inc. Hideyuki Tomioka and Screenwriter Katsuyuki Sumizawa will be appearing at Anime Boston at the Hynes Convention Center, Boston, Mass, on March 30 through April 1, 2018.

Hideyuki Tomioka joined SUNRISE to help with the production of Fang of the Sun Dougram as a part-timer.

He was the producer for many popular shows, including Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, After War Gundam X, INUYASHA, and STEAMBOY.

“We are extremely pleased to host Hideyuki Tomioka at Anime Boston. His credits include some of my personal favorites, such as Inuyasha, Turn A Gundam, and Steamboy,” said Victor Lee, Convention Chairman. “However, for Anime Boston, his most important credit may be Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, since our first convention, in 2003, featured the English voice actors of all five Gundam pilots!”

Katsuyuki Sumizawa is an anime screenwriter and novelist. He has worked on various shows, including Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Yū Yū Hakusho, Macross 7, Inuyasha, and Naruto. He also penned the novel Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Frozen Teardrop.

Victor Lee added, “Katsuyuki Sumizawa has written scripts for some of the top titles over the last 20 years, including Dragon Ball Z, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Inuyasha, Macross7, Naruto and, of course, Sailor Moon. His writing has influenced how we see anime in the West. Getting the opportunity to ask about the creative process is always a treat!”

Previously announced guests include FLOW, Asaka, Greg Ayres, and Monica Rial.
