Metal Gear Survive Game's Launch Trailer Streamed

PS4/Xbox One/PC game shipped on Tuesday in N. America

Konami began streaming a launch trailer for its Metal Gear Survive game on Tuesday. The game shipped for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in North America on Tuesday.

The game shipped for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 21 in Japan and will ship on February 22 in Europe. The "Survival Pack" release includes four gold plated weapons, two additional gestures, four survival scarves, the "Kabuki" face paint, a "Boxman" accessory, and Mother Base nameplate. The game retails for US$39.99 in the United States and 4,980 yen (about US$45) in Japan. A digital deluxe edition in Japan retails for 6,980 (about US$63).

The game was originally slated for 2017 but was delayed to early 2018.

The game's story is set after Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and follows members of Militaires Sans Frontières who are transported to an alternate universe where they must battle a biological threat. Konami calls the game "a new addition to the Metal Gear Solid V experience."

Metal Gear Survive is the first Metal Gear console game to be announced since series creator Hideo Kojima's departure from Konami. The rights to the Metal Gear Solid name remain with Konami, and Kojima confirmed in 2016 that he has no involvement with Metal Gear Survive.

Konami's KPE also developed a pachi-slot (pachinko/slot) game titled Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater since Kojima's departure.
