Crunchyroll Streams Spiritpact -Bond of the Underworld- Chinese-Animated Series

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Series' 2nd season previewed in videos before Saturday premiere

Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it will stream Spiritpact -Bond of the Underworld-, the second season of the Spiritpact Chinese-animated series. The series will be available worldwide outside Asia, and it will debut on February 24 at 9:00 a.m. EST.

Crunchyroll describes the story:

Tanmoku Ki is an exorcist with the responsibility of cleansing the spirits of the world and in doing so he serves as a priest protecting the balance between heaven and earth at the cost of his own life span. However, he is destined to fight not only the evil spirits who constantly aim for his life and spiritual powers, but also those who covet his position and influence. Their attacks never cease and Tanmoku Ki must always keep fighting.

In the midst of all this, the only person that Tanmoku Ki is able to face as completely as himself is You Keika, who is Tanmoku Ki's spirit shadow.

Are they truly just "exorcist" and "spirit shadow"? What turn of fate has brought them together?

The curtain rises on a new story and Tanmoku Ki's past that was not able to be told in the first season of the anime. Just who is this person called "Shouken" who lies dormant in Tanmoku Ki's memories?

Emon Animation Company also began streaming opening and ending videos for the series' Japanese dub on Thursday. The opening video features Shuta Sueyoshi's opening theme song "Taion" (Body Temperature). The ending video previews Roys' ending theme song "I'll be there."

The Japanese dub's first promotional video debuted in January.

The series' Japanese dub will premiere simultaneously with the original Chinese version and air on Tokyo MX on February 24 at 9:00 p.m. The season will have 12 episodes. The returning Japanese dub cast includes Yūichi Iguchi as You Keika, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Tanmoku Ki, and Rumi Ookubo as Shin Shiyou.

The Japanese dub of the series' first season premiered in January 2017. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.

The show is based on Pingzi's comic from Tencent's Tencent Comic website, and the first season had already finished its broadcast in China before the Japanese dub aired. Li Haolin directed the series, with scripts by Reiko Torii. Kouichi Iizuka was the sound director, and Michiyoshi Minamizawa and Kenji Beppu are credited as sound producers. Rintaro Yoneya was the sound production manager. Yu Jiaoyan performed the series' opening theme song "MUGENDAI," and RiyO performed the ending theme song "Endless Stories."
