Final Fantasy XV to Have 4 More DLC Episodes Releasing in 2018-2019

Game's physical shipment plus download sales are at "about" 7 million

In interviews with the Japanese gaming news websites Famitsu and 4Gamer on Friday, the staff of Square Enix's Final Fantasy XV game revealed more details about the game's new content in 2018 and beyond.

Game director Hajime Tabata stated that Square Enix will release four more DLC episodes for the game. He told 4Gamer that Square Enix will release the content beyond just 2018, in order to stick to a "reasonable development schedule." The game's first new episode will focus on Ardyn, and Tabata hinted again that another episode may focus on Luna.

Square Enix previously stated in September it is developing content for the game into this year. Tabata then said in January that Square Enix plans on developing content for Final Fantasy XV until the end of this year.

Tabata additionally told 4Gamer that the game has a combined physical shipment plus download sales of "about 7 million" copies. He stated that he hopes the game's Windows Edition sells 2 million copies, and Square Enix aims to have a combined physical shipment and download sales of 10 million.

Final Fantasy XV went on sale worldwide for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2016. The game's Pocket Edition for iOS and Android launched on February 9.

The game is getting a Royal Edition for the PS4 and Xbox One on March 6. The new release will include the previously released Season Pass DLC, as well as other features. The Windows Edition will also launch on the same day. Square Enix will release a demo for the Windows Edition on Monday.
