PS4 game remakes original Yakuza 2 game

Sega announced on Sunday that it will release the Yakuza Kiwami 2 game for the PlayStation 4 on August 28 in North America and Europe.

Pre-ordered copies and first-run copies of the game will feature a SteelBook case featuring Kiryu and Ryuji Goda.

Sega released the game in Japan for the PS4 on December 7.

The game remakes the original Ryū ga Gotoku 2 (Yakuza 2) game, which shipped in Japan in December 2006 for the PlayStation 2 (the game later arrived in the West in September 2008). Sega previously ported HD remasters of the game in Japan only for the PS3 in 2012 and for the Wii U in 2013.

The PS4 remake uses the "Dragon Engine" that Sega created to develop Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, as well as new characters and new playable scenarios.

The first Yakuza Kiwami game is a full remake of the original Yakuza (Ryū ga Gotoku) game. Sega shipped the game in Japan in January 2016 for the PS3 and the PS4. Sega released the game in North America on PS4 on August 29.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life launched on the PS4 in Japan in December 2016, and will launch in North America on April 17.
