Dragon Ball Legends Smartphone Game Announced

posted on by Karen Ressler
iOS/Android battle game slated for summer

Bandai Namco Entertainment opened worldwide preregistration for a new smartphone game titled Dragon Ball Legends on Tuesday. The company revealed the game during a livestream presentation, and shared two trailers.

The iOS and Android app is slated for this summer. The game will feature one-vs-one "card action battles" with one-finger tap mechanics. Players will take on the role of a new character designed by Akira Toriyama for an original story, and will be able to compete against opponents worldwide. The game will have 3D graphics and be fully voiced.

The livestream featured a demo battle between a player in Tokyo and a player in San Francisco.

The upcoming Dragon Ball Super film will collaborate with the game.

Bandai Namco Entertainment opened the teaser website earlier this month. The website listed the app for release in Japan, North America, Europe, and Asia. It will be available in Japanese, English, French, German, Korean, and Traditional Chinese.

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced its Dragon Ball Z Bucchigiri Match smartphone game last September. The company's Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle smartphone game launched in 2015.

Disclosure: Bandai Namco Filmworks Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings Inc., is a non-controlling, minority shareholder in Anime News Network Inc.
