The Promised Neverland Manga Gets Novel About Norman in June

Shueisha's Jump j Books label revealed on Monday that Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's The Promised Neverland (Yakusoku no Neverland) manga will get a novel titled Yakusoku no Neverland: Norman kara no Tegami (The Promised Neverland: A Letter from Norman). Nanao is penning the novel, and it is slated to ship on June 4.

The novel centers on (highlight white text to read spoilers) Norman's memories of Emma and the other kids at Grace Field House as he writes his letter to them on the day he leaves.

The domain name "neverland-anime.com" was registered on April 20.

Viz Media publishes the original manga in North America, and it describes the story:

Emma, Norman and Ray are the brightest kids at the Grace Field House orphanage. And under the care of the woman they refer to as “Mom,” all the kids have enjoyed a comfortable life. Good food, clean clothes and the perfect environment to learn—what more could an orphan ask for? One day, though, Emma and Norman uncover the dark truth of the outside world they are forbidden from seeing.

Shirai and Demizu launched the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in August 2016, and Shueisha shipped the manga's eighth compiled volume shipped on April 4. The manga has 4.2 million in print in Japan. The 22nd Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize nominated the manga earlier this year.

Viz Media is serializing the manga in its digital English edition of Shonen Jump, and is also publishing the volumes in print. It shipped the third volume on April 3.

The manga's supervising editor previously stated in February that the manga had reached its "turnaround point."
