Creator: "first-tier Japanese animation production companies" are involved

Independent game creator Kan Gao from Freebird Games posted on YouTube on Friday that Freebird Games' To the Moon game is getting an animated film adaptation. Gao stated that the project is a collaboration between China and Japan, with Chinese companies in charge of funding, and Japanese companies producing the film.

Gao said he couldn't confirm which companies are involved in the project, but stated that the companies are "pretty big players in the animation industry." The video description for the YouTube video stated that "first tier Japanese animation production companies" are involved.

Gao added Beijing's Ultron Event Horizon is making the adaptation possible, and that the budget is "quoted as somewhere above the budget for the production of your name." Gao himself will be involved in the script editing and advising process.

Freebird Games released the To the Moon adventure role-playing game for PC in 2011, and for iOS and Android and 2017. Freebird Games describes the game:

To the Moon is an indie Adventure RPG, about two doctors traversing through the memories of a dying man to fulfill his last wish of going to the moon.

Freebird Games released a sequel titled Finding Paradise in December. The company released A Bird Story, a mini-episode that ties To the Moon to Finding Paradise, in 2014.
