Jun Hanyunyū's Good-Bye Comedy Manga Gets Live-Action Show in July

Kaho, Takuro Ono star in adaptation of manga inspired by Osamu Dazai's unfinished novel

TV Osaka and BS Japan announced on Wednesday that they will run a live-action television adaptation of Jun Hanyunyū's Good-Bye manga. Yuki Saito, Sumisu, and Daisuke Ajiki are directing, with Date Sorami penning the scripts. Kaho (left in picture below) will play Fumiyo Bessho, while Takuro Ono will play Shū Tajimake.

The show will premiere on TV Osaka and BS Japan on July 14 at 24:56 and 24:00, respectively (effectively on July 15 at 12:56 a.m. and 12:00 a.m.)

The original manga is based on famous Japanese author Osamu Dazai's Good-Bye novel, which remained unfinished before his death. The manga centers on Shū, who must settle his affairs with his many lovers. When his old high school friend Kaho realizes that Shū's situation is similar to the situation of the protagonist of Dazai's novel, he attempts to use the novel as a reference on how to go about saying his good-byes.

Hanyunyū launched the manga in Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha, Ltd.'s Comic Ruelle magazine in May 2016. Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha, Ltd. published the manga's one compiled book volume in March 2017.
