Happy Sugar Life TV Anime's New Visual Unveiled

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The official website for the television anime adaptation of Tomiyaki Kagisora's Happy Sugar Life manga revealed a new visual for the anime on Friday.

The series will air on TBS and MBS on July 13 at 25:55 (effectively July 14 at 1:55 a.m.), and will later air on BS-TBS and AT-X. The show is airing in the "Animeism" programming block. The series will stream online only on Amazon Prime Video inside and outside of Japan.

The psychological horror manga's story centers on a beautiful high school girl named Satō Matsuzaka, who believes she has finally found the meaning of love when she begins living with a younger girl. Previously, Satō never refused the advances of any guy around her, but that changes when she meets the girl Shio. The background and age of the mysterious girl are unclear. When Satō is with Shio, she experiences a very sweet feeling, which she understands as love. In order to protect that feeling, Satō is willing to do anything, even if it means committing murder.

Keizou Kusakawa (Kan Colle, Fuuka) is serving as chief director, and Nobuyoshi Nagayama (My Girlfriend is Shobitch) is directing the anime at Ezo'la. Touko Machida (DIVE!!) is in charge of the series scripts. Shōko Yasuda (Seven Mortal Sins) is designing the characters.

Youko Matsubara is the color key artist, and Kiyotaka Yachi is directing the background art. Yasuyuki Itou is the director of photography. Yuuji Oka is editing. Yayoi Tateishi is directing the sound, and Koichiro Kameyama is composing the music. Nanawoakari is performing the opening theme song, and ReoNa is performing the show's ending theme song "Sweet Hurt."
