Drive Head Anime Film's Promo Video Previews Shinkalion Cameo

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Film opens in Japan on August 24

The official website for Eiga Drive Head: Tomika Hyper Rescue Kidō Kyūkyū Keisatsu (Drive Head the Movie: Tomika Hyper Rescue Mobile Emergency Police), the upcoming film in the Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head Kidō Kyūkyū Keisatsu (Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head Mobile Emergency Police) anime franchise, began streaming a trailer for the film on Saturday. The video previews the film's cameo of Shinkalion protagonist Hayato and the E5 Hayabusa Shinkalion.

Natsumi Fujiwara, Sachi Kokuryu, Kei Shindō, Sachika Misawa, Takashi, and Tsukasa Saitō are all reprising their roles as Gō Kurumada, Taiga Yagura, Jin Ishino, Mikoto Ichino, Akira, and Yūsuke, respectively. New to the cast is Maaya Uchida as TERA (seen in image below), an android that holds the key to the film's story, and stands in the way of Gō and the others. Actor Kentarō (My Love Story!!, Museum, Sagrada Reset) is also making his voice-acting debut in the film, but his role has not yet been revealed.

The all-new work will open in Japan on August 24. Takao Kato (Zoids, Busou Renkin, Baku Tech! Bakugan) is returning from both the television anime and the net anime to direct the film.

Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head Kidō Kyūkyū Keisatsu is the first television anime inspired by Takara Tomy's long-running Tomica line of miniature toy cars. The anime premiered in Japan in April 2017, and ended in December. A new net anime series then launched on January 20. New episodes debut online on the third Saturday of every month on the "Drive Head TV" and "Takara Tomy Channel" services.

The story of Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head Kidō Kyūkyū Keisatsu is set in "the future, just a little after the present day." To respond to disasters beyond human comprehension and the increasing complexity of crime and mishaps, the mobile emergency police Hyper Rescue (an organization newly formed by the government primarily for life-saving) developed 'Drive Heads' that are specialized with police, fire-fighting, and rescue capabilities.

The Drive Heads are special vehicles that change from car forms to humanoid walking vehicles. Grade school student Gō Kurumada and others who are suitable become drivers and join forces with the mobile emergency police and other adults.
