Anime Expo screened world premiere of film on July 6, with Netflix debut on August 4

The official website for Flavors of Youth (Shikioriori), CoMix Wave Films' collaboration anime anthology project with Haoliners, began streaming a music video for the anthology films' theme song "WALK" by Vickeblanka on Friday. The video features footage from the anime.

Anime Expo hosted the anthology film's world premiere on July 6. The film will open in theaters in Japan on August 4, and will have a three-week limited run. Netflix will also debut the film globally on August 4.

The anime project stars: (Note: Name romanizations are not official.)

Taito Ban as Shaomin, protagonist of the "Hidamari no Chōshoku" short. Mariya Ise plays the character as a child

Minako Kotobuki as Irin, the older sister and a fashion model in the "Chiisana Fashion Show" short

Haruka Shiraishi as Lulu, the younger sister in the "Chiisana Fashion Show" short

Hiroki Yasumoto as Steve, Irin's manager in the "Chiisana Fashion Show" short

Takeo Ōtsuka as Rimo, the protagonist of the "Shanghai Koi" short

Ikumi Hasegawa as Shiaoyu, the romantic partner of Rimo in the "Shanghai Koi" short

The three shorts in the anthology are titled "Hidamari no Chōshoku" (Sunny Breakfast), "Chiisana Fashion Show" (A Small Fashion Show), and "Shanghai Koi" (Shanghai Love), and all three will be set in three different Chinese cities.

The theme of the three stories are food, clothing, and shelter. Writer and live-action director Jiaoshou Yi Xiaoxing (Surprise) is making his animation directorial debut with "Hidamari no Chōshoku," which is about a youth working in Beijing and a grandmother in his hometown. Yoshitaka Takeuchi, the 3DCG chief in many of Makoto Shinkai's films, is directing "Chiisana Fashion Show," which is about sisters living in Guangzhou. Haoliners president Li Haoling (Spiritpact) is directing "Shanghai Koi," which is set in 1990s Shanghai as an homage to 5 Centimeters Per Second. Li is also credited as the overall director of the Shikioriori project.
