Capcom Reveals Collector's Edition for Resident Evil 2 Remake Game

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Game launches on January 25 for PC, PS4, Xbox One

CAPCOM revealed a "Resident Evil 2 Collector's Edition" set for its remake of the Resident Evil 2 survival horror game at a panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego on Friday.

The collection is available exclusively at GameStop and EB Games for US$199.99 (239.99 CAD). CAPCOM plans to reveal details about the European collector's edition in August.

The Collector's Edition features the game, special packaging, an extra DLC pack card (featuring two costumes for Leon, three costumes for Claire, and a "Samurai Edge – Albert Model" weapon), the ability to swap the soundtrack with the "original version," a 12-inch Leon S. Kennedy (R.P.D. version) figure, a 32-page "Ben's File" art book, a 25-track digital soundtrack, and a "R.P.D." Renovation Design Poster.

Pre-order bonuses include the "Samurai Edge – Chris Model" and "Samurai Edge – Jill Model" weapons.

The game will ship for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on January 25, 2019. CAPCOM's brand manager Mike Lunn told the GamingBolt news website at E3 that the game is not planned for the Nintendo Switch "at this time."

The remake will have third-person perspective gameplay (changed from the fixed camera angles of the original game), similar to the gameplay introduced in Resident Evil 4.

The original Resident Evil 2 marked the introduction of the character Leon Kennedy, as he finds his first day on the Raccoon City Police Department marked by a sudden zombie infestation in the city. The game also centers on Claire Redfield attempting to find her brother Chris, one of the main characters of the first game.

Resident Evil 7: biohazard, the latest game in the series, shipped for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in January 2017. The game has sold 5.1 million copies as of March 31.
