Anime Character Designers Akemi Takada, Mutsumi Inomata Design Cat-Themed Boxes for New Year Foods

Magical Angel Creamy Mami character designer Akemi Takada and Future GPX Cyber Formula character designer Mutsumi Inomata have provided cat illustrations for special osechi, which are fancy Japanese New Year foods. The special boxes, called jūbako, will be available with one design from each artist from Tobu Department Store.
The boxes will be 13 centimeters (about 5 inches) square, and each of the three tiers will be 3.8 centimeters (about 1.5 inches) tall. Each box will contain the same items, which will include typical New Year foods as well as cat paw pad-shaped kamaboko (cured fish paste) and flower-shaped salmon.
Each box will cost 11,880 yen (about US$106). The head Tobu Department Store location in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, and the Tobu Online Shopping website will begin accepting orders on September 20.
