Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō Anime Announces Returning Cast for Gold Saints

Toshihiko Seki, Hideyuki Tanaka, Ryōtarō Okiayu return from previous anime

The official website for Toei Animation's anime of Chimaki Kuori's Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō manga announced the cast for the Gold Saints on Wednesday. Toshihiko Seki (Scorpio Milo), Hideyuki Tanaka (Leo Aiolia), and Ryotaro Okiayu (Gemini Saga) are all returning from previous installments in the Saint Seiya franchise.

The newly-announced cast members join Aina Suzuki as Shōko, M.A.O as Kyōko, Inori Minase as Saori, and Megumi Nakajima as Mii. Suzuki, M.A.O, and Minase are all reprising their roles from previous drama CDs for the manga. Pile voiced Mii in the drama CDs.

The anime will debut streaming on the Animax on PlayStation app in December.

Toei Animation is producing the anime. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga, and it describes the story:

In the wake of a space-wide civil war instigated by Saga–the Gemini Gold Saint–a new team of Saints comes together with the goal of protecting their goddess Athena. This first all-woman team of armored warriors, powered by the Zodiac, will use their cunning, strength, and compassion to defend their worlds and oppose their very destinies.

The manga is set immediately after the main storyline's Sanctuary arc after the defeat of Gemini Saga from Masami Kurumada's original Saint Seiya manga, but before the Posieidon arc. However, whereas the original manga followed a boy named Seiya and other Saints who fight to protect the goddess Athena, the new series follows a female "Saintia" named Shō who fights evil deities to protect Athena.
