Honda's Hoshitonde Manga Gets TV Ad to Celebrate 1st Volume's Release

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The first compiled book volume of Honda's Hoshitonde manga shipped in Japan on Monday. To celebrate, Kadokawa began streaming a television commercial for the series.

The manga's story centers on Ryūsei Osaki, a new student at Yashima University's College of Arts. Ryūsei wants to enter the novel seminar, but he is assigned to the haiku seminar. Though he knows absolutely nothing about haiku, Ryūsei takes it in stride and embraces the poetry world. Ryūsei begins to learn about haiku, including their seasonal and punctuation words, with his various classmates.

Honda, known for Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san, launched the series as the first for Kadokawa's new Gene LINE label on April 27. The Tsutaya store in Shibuya, Tokyo will hold a signing event with Honda on October 20 to mark the release of the manga's first volume.

Some bookstores in Japan are currently running promotional fairs for compiled book volumes of Gene LINE manga. Animate is offering LINE points, and Tsutaya and Book Store Kumazawa are offering deluxe sticky notes to people who purchase designated volumes. Animate, Melon Books, Comic Cmoa, and LINE Manga are also offering separate bonus items depending on the retailer.
