Mr. Tonegawa Anime's Real Escape Game Offers Dish Inspired by 'Roasting Prostration' Scene

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Kaiji spinoff anime Mr. Tonegawa: Middle Management Blues is getting a Real Escape Game, titled "Escape From the Big Demonic Year-End Party," at the puzzle-solving theme park Tokyo Mystery Circus from October 18 to January 27. In addition to the main game, Tokyo Mystery Circus' yelo Cafe is offering a special "Roasting Prostration Sausage Criminal Beer Set" for 1,000 yen (about US$9).

There is a certain scene in the Kaiji manga in which Tonegawa is forced to prostrate himself on a hot iron plate in front of Hyōdō, and he gets badly burned. The Real Escape Game's food set recreates the scene in a less sinister fashion. Diners who order the set will receive sausage and fries on a grill plate with white bread standing on end. The sausage will have grill marks inspired by Tonegawa's pain, and the set will include a cold canned beer.

In the main Real Escape Game's story, players become new black suits for Teiai Corporation. They then have to amuse Hyōdō at a year-end party. Hyōdō threatens that the penalty for a boring party will be the "roasting prostration" that Tonegawa faced.

The original Chūkan Kanriroku Tonegawa manga focuses on the "agonizing daily life of Teiai Group executive Yukio Tonegawa, who gets into conflicts with Hyōdō and the black suits." The series' anime adaptation premiered in July. Crunchyroll is streaming the series with English subtitles as it airs. HIDIVE is streaming an English dub, and Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series.
