Kemono Friends Voice Actress Yuka Ozaki Stars in Manga About Her Cat

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

When she isn't playing a wild cat on TV, voice actress Yuka Ozaki loves to heap adoration onto her own pet cat, Pia. That's the premise of the new manga Pure to Pia by artist Shirokuma. The four-panel essay manga retells the daily life of Ozaki and her cat as well as gives a behind the scenes look at her every day home and work life. It also includes actual photographs of Ozaki.

The book is slated for release on November 30 followed by a signing session with Ozaki at the Shibuya Tatsuya store in Tokyo.

Ozaki voiced Serval in the first season of the Kemono Friends anime series. She's also the voice of Asuka Toyama in BanG Dream!, Ion Nanana in Future Card Buddyfight Ace, and Kohane Hatoya in Anima Yell!.

Celebrities are their beloved felines are a continually revisited topic in manga. Horror manga artist Junji Ito took a break from the macabre to introduce readers to his cats Yon and Mu in Junji Ito's Cat Diary: Yon & Mu. Entertainer Shōko Nakagawa wrote her own essay book Neko no Ashiato (Cats' Pawprints) about her 10 cats that inspired an anime. Pop Team Epic creator Bkub Okawa released the first volume of his Konya wa Neko-chan manga in June, although the cats in the series may not be based on his own pets.
