posted on by Karen Ressler
Simulcast running now on Crunchyroll

Sentai Filmworks announced on Wednesday that it has licensed the Between the Sky and Sea (Sora to Umi no Aida) anime in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and other territories. The company plans to stream the anime and release it on home video.

The anime premiered in Japan on October 3 and Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs.

Sentai Filmworks describes the story:

In the future, Earth's oceans are nearly devoid of life when the fish disappear. However, people still need to eat. There can be only one solution: Humanity must reach for the stars, discover new aquatic lifeforms and catch alien fish for consumption! With the desire to help those they care about, Haru and her friends train to become space fisherwomen to bring back the catch of a lifetime.

Atsushi Nigorikawa (Anime De Training! Ex, Love Tyrant) is directing the anime at TMS Entertainment, and Takashi Yamada (Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture, Ashita no Nadja, Danchi Tomoo) is in charge of series composition. Shuuhei YAMAMOTO (Anime De Training! Ex, Battle Girl High School) is drawing the animation character designs based on Kazuyuki Ueda's original designs. Kurō Ishihara is the mechanical designer. Asami Tachibana is composing the music.

The project is ForwardWorks' first original IP and includes a smartphone game, radio program, manga, television anime, novel, and stage performances. Sakura Wars creator Ouji Hiroi is credited with the original work and is serving as general manager for the project.
