Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer Anime Film Surpasses 11 Billion Yen Worldwide

The Japanese entertainment news website Cinema Today reported on Friday that Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer (Meitantei Conan: Zero no Shikkōnin), the 22nd film in the Detective Conan franchise, has earned more than 11 billion yen (about US$97.1 million) worldwide.
The film opened in Japan on April 13, and earned the highest opening weekend record for the franchise. The film stayed at #1 at the Japanese box office for seven weeks. The film later had 4D screenings for a three-week run starting on October 19.
The movie is the highest-earning film in the franchise. In Japan, the film has earned 9.1 billion yen (about US$80.3 million), and is the eighth highest-grossing anime film in Japan of all time, and the 47th highest-grossing film in Japan in general. Outside of Japan, the film has screened in China, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, and other Southeast Asian countries, and has earned 2.1 billion yen (about US$18.5 million).
Yuzuru Tachikawa (Mob Psycho 100, Death Parade) directed the film. Masaharu Fukuyama performed the film's ending theme song "ZERO." Aya Ueto played the character Kyōko Tachibana, a lawyer representing Ran's father Kogorō Mori. Daikichi Hakata played Fumikazu Haba, a deceased judicial intern and former colleague of Tachibana. Tachibana once worked with him at the same law firm.
The film is a sequel of the series' 20th film, Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare, and centers on Tōru "Zero" Amuro. Police chief Hyōe Kuroda, who is rumored to be Rum in the Black Organization, appears for the first time in a film for the franchise.
