Japanese Man Arrested For Selling US Dollar Bills with One Piece Characters

Police from the Okayama Prefecture town of Misaki arrested a Nagoya salaryman on October 29 for selling U.S. dollar bills bearing reprinted stickers of various One Piece characters. The 45-year-old suspect, Tomoaki Tanahashi, was charged on suspicion of violating copyright laws.

Tanahashi has been allegedly selling the bills on online auction sites. One Piece bills had been sold at least four times between early March and mid-August for 1,500 yen (about US$14) each. According to the police, they found 448 dollar bills, as well as dollar bills attached with Disney's Frozen character stickers, in the suspect's home.
