Haikyu Animator Reprimanded by I.G for Indecent Comments, Images on Twitter
posted on by Sarah Nelkin
On Thursday, the anime studio Production I.G issued an apology message on its website regarding the behavior of one of its animators, Yumi Kuroiwa, over social media website Twitter.
After the animator posted crude comments and drawings over the online service, the company confirmed that Kuroiwa herself posted the tweets, and ordered that her Twitter account be erased. In addition, the company announced that they will request no further animation work from Kuroiwa. The company also confirmed that none of the materials Kuroiwa posted were scheduled to be sold as dōjinshi or the like.
The images Kuroiwa posted were of Haikyu!! characters depicted in a sexual manner. She also posted that she does not want to work on Kuroko's Basketball and that she rather work just on Haikyu!! She added that she lost her copy of the Kuroko designs, but said that she will just rely on memory to draw the anime.
Kuroiwa has worked on key animation and animation direction for such shows as Haikyu!!, Blood+ , Kuroko's Basketball, and Kimi ni Todoke – From Me to You. She also served as the animation director for the xxxHOLiC: Rō Adayume OAV.
