Japan's Bookstore Employees Rank Top Boys-Love Manga of 2014

Ten Count, Toshishita Kareshi no Renai Kanriguse, Kuroneko Kareshi no Aishikata top list

Japanese manga news website Comic Natalie announced the results of Honya Club's "Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Boys-Love Comics of 2014" survey on Tuesday. The results were collected from surveys given to 470 bookstore employees in 400 shops around Japan from October 18 to November 28.

Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Boys-Love Comics of 2014 Results:

1. Ten Count
Rihito Takarai
Shirotani Tadaomi, secretary of a company president, meets Riku Kurose, a counselor. After he gives Shirotani a diagnosis for mysophobia, Shirotani ends up attending his counseling sessions.
2. Toshishita Kareshi no Renai Kanriguse
Hashigo Sakurabi
Satoshi, a research student who immerses himself in his work so much so that he forgets to eat, has a pet-master relationship with his junior Izumi. When Izumi learns that Satoshi was attacked by a man, their relationship begins to change.
3. Kuroneko Kareshi no Aishikata
Ayane Ukyou
In the continued love story of Shingo, who has ability to change into a black cat, and Kagami, a popular actor who can turn into a leopard, the pair begin to live together.
4. Dakaretai Otoko No1 ni Odosareteimasu.
Hashigo Sakurabi
Takahito held the position of "Most Desirable Man" for five years straight, but was finally unseated by newcomer Touya. Though Takahito bore a grudge against him, Touya only smiled.
5. Umibe no Étranger
Kii Kanna
Mio lost his parents at an early age, but met Shun, a gay novelist living near his house in Okinawa. They grew closer to each other, but Mio had to leave Okinawa. Three years later, Mio returns to face his feelings.

Guilt|Pleasure
Asano Katsuya is a US-trained psychiatrist working as a profiler for the Tokyo Police Department. Assigned the case of serial killer Shinohara Keiji, a sociopath who says he will only speak to Asano. The doctor begins having strange and disturbing nightmares after taking the case.
7. Hitorijime My Hero
Memeko Arii
A spin-off manga of Memeko Arii's Hitorijime Boyfriend, featuring Kensuke's brother Kousuke, and his friend Masahiro.
8. Twittering Birds Never Fly (Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai)
Kou Yoneda
Beautiful, yet masochistic yakuza member Yashiro gets a new bodyguard, the silent and clumsy Doumei Chikara. They begin a close mutually beneficial relationship.
9. (Even So, I Will Love You Tenderly) Soredemo, Yasashii Koi wo Suru
Kou Yoneda
A story about Shima and Togawa from Kou Yoneda's No Touching At All and their growing relationship.
10. Hana to Usagi
Chiaki Kashima
Kajiyama keeps delivering packages to room 411, where Aizawa lives. Aizawa is a recluse who is always silent and wears a rabbit head costume, until one day he grabs Kajiyama's arm and thanks him.


The ranking is a spinoff of Honya Club's "Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Comics of 2015" ranking.

North American publisher Digital Manga published In These Words in 2012 and will publish Even So, I Will Love You Tenderly in May. The company also licensed Twittering Birds Never Fly, and released the second volume on February 10.
