The East Bay's cartoon, anime, comics & cosplay convention returns to Oakland!
Oakland, CA - April 20, 2015 -- Over 3000 attendees are expected at Kraken Con April 25th-26th 2015 at the Oakland Convention Center.
For this fourth event, Guests of Honor include Patrick McHale, creator of Cartoon Network mini-series Over the Garden Wall and former creative director for Adventure Time; William Salyers, a cartoon and video game voice actor with credits including Rigby in Regular Show; and Stephanie Sheh, the new voice of Usagi Tsukino in Viz Media's release of Sailor Moon.
Attendees will enjoy panels on a variety of subjects related to art and cosplay; participate in activities like a convention-wide scavenger hunt and astronomy shows from Chabot Space and Science Center's portable planetarium; view live demonstrations like special effects makeup transformations from Pandora FX; and shop from over 100 artists and exhibitors. Featured events include a costume contest and talent show, both with cash prizes; and a semi-formal masked ball.
A number of bay area locals will be in attendance as Special Guests including sculptor Kurt Strubeck, cosplayer HezaChan, artist Jason Thompson, author Tim Pratt, podcaster Willie Dills, and writer and director Jason Ragosta.
Weekend tickets are on sale now for $30 at www.krakencon.com. Children 6 and under are free.
