Heroic Legend of Arslan Manga Gets Musou Game for PS4, PS3

Warriors-style game featuring playable characters Arslan, Daryun ships in Japan this fall

The June issue of Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine is revealing on Saturday that Hiromu Arakawa and Yoshiki Tanaka's The Heroic Legend of Arslan (Arslan Senki) manga is getting a Warriors/Musou-style action game for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 systems. The Arslan Senki x Musou game is slated to ship in Japan this fall. The announcement does not list a developer for the game.

Players will be able to reenact scenes from the manga in the game. The game's story will start with the battle of Atropatene. Confirmed playable characters so far include Arslan and Daryun. The game's staff will reveal more playable characters in the future.

Koei Tecmo's Musou action game franchise includes Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and Warriors Orochi. Other collaborative games in the franchise have included Dynasty Warriors Gundam, One Piece: Pirate Warriors, and Hyrule Warriors.

Arakawa launched The Heroic Legend of Arslan manga in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2013. The manga adapts Tanaka's novel series.

The television anime adaptation of the manga premiered on April 5. Funimation is streaming the anime as it airs in Japan, and it describes the story:

In the kingdom of Pars lies the Royal Capital of Ecbatana, a powerful city ruled by the fearsome King Andragoras. Arslan, the 14-year-old prince of Pars, is a green ruler and lacks the fierce leadership skills possessed by his father. After his father falls victim to a treacherous plot headed by one of his most trusted comrades, the kingdom of Pars falls in the war with the neighboring nation of Lusitania. Narrowly escaping with his life, Arslan must embark on a journey to reclaim the fallen kingdom and fulfill his destiny as ruler of Pars.

Kodansha published the third volume in Japan in February, and Kodansha USA will publish the third volume in North America on May 12. Crunchyroll is also releasing the manga as it appears in Japan. Central Park Media released the earlier 1991-93 original video anime adaptation of the novels.
