SHAFT Opens 'Madogatari' Exhibit to Celebrate 40th Anniversary

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The SHAFT animation studio is launching a special exhibition to celebrate the studio's 40th anniversary. Starting on November 27, the "Madogatari" exhibit will open in Tokyo and run for about a week before moving to Osaka on December 22 and then Sapporo on February 2.

The exhibit is hosting an scroll-through gallery on the website combining sketches from the Madoka Magica and Monogatari series.

The animation studio was founded in 1975 by former MushiPro animator Hiroshi Wakao. The studio's first original work was the Yume kara, Samenai anime video series in 1987. They've gone on to produce Negima! Magister Negi Magi, Hidamari Sketch, Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei, and Nisekoi as well as Madoka Magica and Monogatari.
