Toei Screens 1st 3 World Trigger Episodes with English Dub

posted on by Kevin Pennyfeather
Another company has not licensed the dub that Toei itself commissioned

The Toei Animation booth at Anime Expo is screening the first three episodes of the World Trigger television anime with an English dub this week. Representatives of the studio emphasized with ANN that another company has not licensed the anime's dub. Rather, Toei Animation itself commissioned the English dub of the first six to seven episodes. Toei Animation has not made plans to screen the dub, including the episodes after episode 3, in other venues after Anime Expo.

"Celebrating Anime Expo, Toei Animation will premiere World Trigger episode 1-3 in English at our booth. Come find us!! — feeling excited," the company wrote in a tweet.

"Come watch WORLD TRIGGER English dub premiere at Anime Expo!!!," Toei later posted to both Facebook and Twitter confirming that the premiere would be an English dub.

The World Trigger television anime from Toei Animation premiered on October 5 at 6:30 a.m. on the TV Asahi station and its affiliates. Crunchyroll streams the English sub of the anime every Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET in the United States, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America.

Toei Animation describes the anime story:

World Trigger begins when a mysterious gate to another world is opened in Mikado City, letting invaders from another dimension called "Neighbors" overrun the area.

A new defense league called "Border" is created in order to protect the City from these apparitions. The fighters are equipped with an amazing weapon called "Trigger" allowing them to put on an armor and use special powers.

The story takes place four years after those events, when a young student, Yuma Kuga, arrives at Mikado City. He witnesses, along with another student Osamu Mikuno, a portal opening. To fight the creature, Osamu finds himself forced to reveal his affiliation to the Border and pulls his Trigger out. When Osamu is injured, Yuma joins the fight and saves him. Yuma turns out to be very powerful!

Who is really Yuma? Why did he come to Mikado City?

Daisuke Ashihara's original World Trigger manga debuted in 2013's 11th issue of Japan's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Viz Media added the series to its digital anthology version of Weekly Shonen Jump, and it published the fifth print volume on April 7.

The manga is also inspiring the fighting game World Trigger: Borderless Mission for the PlayStation Vita this year.
