Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball Z, Cowboy Bebop Licensed for Board, Miniature Games

posted on by Karen Ressler
Cowboy Bebop also planned for UFS card game

Texas-based game company Jasco Games announced on Saturday that it has acquired the game rights to Dragon Ball Z and Cowboy Bebop, and is planning to produce a board game and a miniatures game for each.

The board games themselves will be funded with Kickstarter, and miniatures will also be sold separately.

The company also plans to add Cowboy Bebop to its "Universal Fighting System: Collectible Card Game" (UFS CCG), which uses characters from other licensed franchises such as Mega Man and, more recently, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.

Jasco acquired the rights to UFS CCG in 2010, and plans to expand the idea to board games with "Universal Tactics" rules for miniatures. The Dragon Ball Z and Cowboy Bebop games will use this universal rule system, and the miniatures will be compatible with other Jasco games.

Panini holds the rights to the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game.

In addition, Cryptozoic Entertainment and France's Don't Panic Games are collaborating to release an Attack on Titan board game in 2016.

In the board game, the titan is a vertical piece and the players' game pieces must climb to defeat it. Antoine Bauza and Ludovic Maublanc (Terror in Meeple City) are designing the game.

The game was demoed at Anime Expo at the beginning of July.
