With the release date of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain drawing near (September 1), fans are anxious to learn the Metal Gear Solid series' greatest remaining mystery: how Big Boss became a villain. A new Japanese commercial shows a family who's taken their appreciation of the landmark franchise very far.

The bride explains that over 28 years (which, not coincidentally, is how long it's been since the original Metal Gear was released), she's learned many things from her father and Metal Gear: to persevere through any situation, to have a sense of humor for others' enjoyment, and to treat others with kindness. But the "greatest mystery" of the series remains unknown. Her father hands over the controller so that she and her groom can discover the mystery together. A caterer wonders what's going on here. The short version (above) is slightly different but has the same message.

Meanwhile, in other box-related Metal Gear Solid V news, Boss Coffee, a Japanese canned coffee brand owned by SUNTORY, will offer customers a storage box featuring Big Boss (the game's protagonist) if they buy a six-pack of Boss Coffee. There are eight different varieties to choose from.

Customers who buy Metal Gear Solid V can also enter a lottery for one of 100 Big Boss T-shirts. The boxes and T-shirts are only available through AEON supermarkets and video game stores in Japan and will be available on September 1.
