This year's 53rd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that Nobuhiko Okamoto will voice Katsuki Bakugō in the television anime of Kōhei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) manga. The magazine is also publishing the character designs for Katsuki. Katsuki is the protagonist Izuku's rival who has known Izuku since childhood. Okamoto will appear at the Jump Super Stage event at Jump Festa 2016 next month.

The other cast members include:

Daiki Yamashita (Yowamushi Pedal's Sakamichi Onoda, Log Horizon's Tōya) as Izuku Midoriya

Kenta Miyake (Assassination Classroom's Akira Takaoka, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders' Mohammed Abdul) as All Might

Viz, the publisher of the manga in English, describes the story:

What would the world be like if 80 percent of the population manifested extraordinary superpowers called “Quirks” at age four? Heroes and villains would be battling it out everywhere! Becoming a hero would mean learning to use your power, but where would you go to study? U.A. High's Hero Program of course! But what would you do if you were one of the 20 percent who were born Quirkless?

Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn't got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all gives him a chance to change his destiny…

Izuku: People aren't born equal
Izuku: But …
All Might & Text: You will become a hero.
Creator: Kōhei Horikoshi (serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump)
Production: BONES
All Might & Text: The dream becomes a reality
Izuku, All Might, & Text: My Hero Academia
Text: TV Anime Adaptation Green-Lit!!

Yamashita is reprising his role from an earlier Vomic (voice comic) for the series. Tesshô Genda had played All Might in that earlier Vomic.

Kenji Nagasaki (Gundam Build Fighters, Classroom Crisis, No. 6) is directing the anime at the studio BONES (Blood Blockade Battlefront, Concrete Revolutio, Fullmetal Alchemist). Yousuke Kuroda (Gundam Build Fighters, Honey and Clover, Trigun) is overseeing the series' scripts. Yoshihiko Umakoshi (Air Master, Heartcatch Precure!, Berserk) is designing the characters for animation.

Yaamshita will also appear at this year's Jump Festa, which will take place at the Makuhari Messe event center in Chiba on December 19 and 20.

Horikoshi launched the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 2014, and Shueisha shipped the manga's sixth volume on November 4. Viz Media is releasing the manga in English digitally as Shueisha publishes new chapters in Japan. The company also published the second volume in print earlier this month.

The manga inspired Hirofumi Neda's Boku no Hero Academia Smash!! manga on Shueisha's digital Shonen Jump+ app. The manga launched earlier this month. Viz Media published a preview of the manga in English in its Weekly Shonen Jump digital manga anthology.
