Shōnen Maid TV Anime's Staff, Spring 2016 Premiere Revealed

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

The official website for the anime adaptation of Ototachibana's Shōnen Maid manga revealed on Monday that the adaptation will be a TV anime series, and it will premiere in spring 2016 on TBS and BS-TBS.

The website also revealed the show's main staff. Yūsuke Yamamoto (Welcome to the NHK, Sgt. Frog, Aquarion Evol) is directing the series at studio 8-Bit. Yoshiko Nakamura (Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun, Super Lovers, Hiiro no Kakera - The Tamayori Princess Saga) is in charge of the series composition, and Kana Ishida (The irregular at magic high school, Aquarion Evol, Wakaba Girl) is adapting the character designs for animation.

The manga revolves around Chihiro Komiya, an energetic elementary school student who was living with his mom. Chihiro is very good at doing housework and chores, and his mother's motto is "No work, no food." After his mother suddenly dies, a man named Madoka Taketori who claims to be his uncle shows up, and asks Chihiro to come live with him. Chihiro initially refuses, but when seeing the horribly dirty state of Madoka's rich home, he decides to start cleaning it. Then Madoka makes another offer to Chihiro: that he comes to live with him, but in exchange Chihiro will do the housework. Chihiro accepts this deal, but suddenly finds himself in a maid uniform.

Ototachibana launched the series in Enterbrain's Comic B's-LOG magazine in the April 2008 issue, and Kadokawa published the eighth compiled volume in November 2014. A limited edition of the sixth compiled volume had bundled a drama CD in 2013 starring Houko Kuwashima as Chihiro Komiya, Takahiro Mizushima as Madoka Takatori, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Keiichirō Shinozaki, Madoka Yonezawa as Miyako Ōtori, and Yūki Kaji as Yūji Hino.

Digital Manga Inc. had announced in 2008 that it had licensed Ototachibana's one-volume Ghost Hunt Scramble! manga, but the company has not yet released the title.
