7 new cast members, production stills unveiled

The staff of the live-action film adaptation of Kazuya Konomoto's Seto Utsumi manga announced the film's July 2 opening and additional cast on Tuesday.

The film's additional cast includes:

They will join Sōsuke Ikematsu (The Last Samurai, live-action Tetsujin 28-go, Tomehane! Suzuri Kōkō Shodōbu) and Masaki Suda (Kamen Rider W, live-action Daily Lives of High School Boys, Princess Jellyfish, Assassination Classroom), who will star in the film's lead roles. Ikematsu (pictured below, upper left) will play Utsumi, and Suda (upper right) will play Seto.

The staff also unveiled eight production stills from the film showing Ikematsu and Suda in costume (see gallery below).

Tatsushi Ōmori (Germanium no Yoru, The Ravine of Goodbye) will direct the film. Filming began last fall.

The manga revolves around Kansai-area high school boys Seto and Utsumi, particularly their completely normal but comedic chats after school.

Konomoto launched Seto Utsumi in Akita Shoten's Bessatsu Shōnen Champion magazine in 2013. Akita Shoten published the fifth compiled book volume last April, and will publish the sixth volume on February 8. The manga was nominated for the 18th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize "Reader Award" in 2014.
